Housekeeping/Room Division Course

Housekeeping/Room Division Course presents a systematic approach to manage housekeeping operations in the hospitality industry. Graduates will be able to work in housekeeping department and deal with different issues such as hotel furnishings, cleaning products, cleaning methods, dealing with guests and safety.

Course Objectives:

  • List and describe the overall structure and operation of hospitality industry and the role and responsibility of the housekeeping department.
  • Describe and discuss the different types of standards housekeeping is involved with like safety and security.
  • Describe and define communication skills and how this relates to the housekeeping department and guests’ satisfaction.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will be able to apply and demonstrate the different procedures used in the hotel departments, specifically housekeeping.
  • Students will be able to show and practice the fundamental tools and techniques used in housekeeping to maintain clean and safe environments.
  • Students will be able to evaluate their work technically through application of their learnt skills in the housekeeping department.

Technical Skills:

  • Clean rooms, vacuum, make beds, replenish linens toilets, dust the furniture, and do the laundry.
  • Keep steady supplies of bathroom products, change light bulbs, replenish fridge supplies.
  • Be honest and respectful, and maintain a positive attitude towards employers, guests, or patients.
